WE NEED MORE MAD COW DISEASE RISK IN AMERICA!!

When has our government failed to protect its citizens in favor of big business interests? Every day of its operation. The following information on the joke that is the USDA is brought to you by Consumers Union, a nonprofit publisher of consumer reports:

The USDA is poised to weaken our mad cow regulations by allowing older, riskier cattle into the US from Canada.

Currently only cows younger than 2 1/2 years old can enter the US from Canada because young cows are less likely to have mad cow disease. USDA’s proposal would allow cattle up to the age of 7. The proposal would also allow Canadian cattle blood and intestines parts that could carry mad cow to be imported.

The USDA needs to hear from you, a consumer who will be put at risk by this decision.

USDA is not doing enough to manage the risk of mad Cow in the US. Consumers Union has urged them to close the Canadian border and to test all US cows over 20 months of age. At the very least, USDA should not compound the problem by allowing higher risk cattle into the country.

Together we can make a difference! Sign our petition urging USDA not to increase mad cow risks by allowing imports of older cattle and high risk cattle parts.
