Eva’s Epilog
During the three months I was driving Eva, Jennifer twice claimed not to have received the agency fees and wouldn’t let her work until I drove her to a Western Union office so she could wire Jennifer the money. Both times occured after Eva had been on three or four calls and it was after one in the morning and both times, the missing money was not from the most recent posting, (the girls sent their fees in once a week) but from two or three weeks ago. Eva swore Jennifer was stealing, but what could she do?
Eva disappeared for a few months before the Dragon Lady called me one night with the ‘good news’ that I was to drive her again.
There was a heartfelt reunion between us before the first call at the Peninsula. It was good to see old friends again. She’d had to take several months off work on doctor’s orders, she confided. Allthe sex had worn a hole in the lining of her vagina.
Eva went in to the Peninsula under duress. She told Jennifer she knew too many people who worked there, but Jennifer insisted. Eva went in, but she never came out.
After an hour and a half, Jennifer sent me in to look for Eva. I found her at a table in the Peninsula bar, having drinks with a tall, well dressed stranger. When I reported this to Jennifer, she ordered me to drag Eva out of the bar by the hair if necessary, but I told the Dragon Lady that the man Eva was with looked like a vice cop.
Jennifer sent me back in with a message for Eva. I gave her Jennifer’s ‘Come out now or you’re fired’ message and left. She never came out. Scuttlebutt has it that she went to work for her friend Tamara, who Eva had introduced me to a few months earlier. Tamara’s operation was busted this year, netting the cops everyone except Tamara.
When my son heard I was writing this book, he confessed Eva had seduced him one night with her breast-rubbing ploy after a client had loaded her up on coke.
