Undercover AM/PM Clerk, Tales From The Dark Side

I made a quick call to Lynnie, hoping he hadn’t left for Eva’s yet.

Hey, man,” I greeted Lynnie over the phone, “Jennifer gave me Alisha tonight. You used to drive her?

“Oh, shit,
” Lynnie spit into the phone, “You got Alisha? She’s a hairball, man, a real hairball.

Why?

Oh, man, she thinks the cops are following her, man, like all the time. All the cops, man. Aaaarrrrrgggg. She drove me crazy. She thought the AM/PM clerk was an undercover vice cop.

Whaaaaaat? No, shit?

She said, listen to this,” Lynn’s voice got loud. He always spoke louder and louder when he was trying to explain something until I would have to move the phone receiver four inches away from my ear.

She said the AM/PM guy was the desk clerk at the last hotel I took her to, like, he was following her around but getting to the next place before us and changing clothes, man.

Whaaaat?” I laughed nervously.

Lynn was screaming now, “She freaked me out, man. She saw that AM/PM guy everywhere and had me seeing it, too. Like, I started seeing this guy, man . . .

And?” There was a pause on the line.

I don’t want to talk about it. It creeps me out talking about it.

There was another pause on the line while I digested what Lynn had told me.

I’m sure glad I got Eva back,” Lynn said. He laughed, “Better you than me, man.

Lynnie still harbored some hostility toward me for driving his girl Eva, and now he figured I was getting my payback.
