The story of his constant search for a place to live where the authorities wouldn't throw him out. My own homelessness in Los Angeles taught me that cops have no respect for the law, that property owners were mostly sadistic and paranoid when it came to their attitudes towards the homeless, that nonprofit organizations in Los Angeles who "help" the homeless were only in it for the money they could get from government grants and that the only people I could truly trust were the volunteers at the church-run soup kitchens.
