Sleeping Rough

Every year shelters open in London between November and April to help homeless people during the cold period -- however after this the shelters close leaving people like Peter back on the streets again.

Listen to Peter's story, a homeless sheet metal welder, to see how being homeless really can happen to any of us. Peter is not a drug addict, alcoholic or suffering any addiction and people like him CAN'T get the vital help they need because of it.

It's the same in the United States -- only worse. Just try to get some help from social services or the Veterans Administration if you're not high or drunk. Go ahead. Try.

  3. Seems like they can't do anything well, and yet we keep giving them money and power. My sister just told me that when she was in a counseling gig in Denver, the cops told her that Feed The Children, old and suposedly reputable charity (you know, the bearded guy on tv late in the wee hours who wants us to give to kids in the developing world), is actually a front for laundering drug money from mexico. What the hell?
