From deep, deep in the cotton-pickin' red clay'd piney woods o' east Texas, I bring you the tales of my sister Bethzilla, hideous freakin' white trash welfare-cheatin' pill-popping, bowl-smoking, vodka-swilling redneck swamp thing what done crawled up out of the danged boggy bottoms of Uncertain, Texas and also of Momma, a transplanted, dirt-floored, rice paddy, hand-raised Cajun girl from the south Texas depression era. Take a look see. Go ahead, lookee.

Damned Scary Old Dead Poet
by Jolie Blond
08/09/01
Damned scary
is what this is,
this poem I began reading
at precisely 1:36 a.m.,
a poem entitled
'one thirty six a.m.'.
Damned scary
is what this is,
this poem that was written
about how I'm feeling
tonight.
Damned scary
is what this is:
that this cantankerous old dead poet
could peek through
his dirty yellow and blue walls
and see us all.
But then I guess that men who stay up late
typing words, alone,
while the world around them
gets crazier and crazier;
men like that
have predictable pathologies.
Still, I'm impressed,
old dead poet,
that you seemed to understand
Celine, Dostoevsky, Hamsun
and the Marquisdejolie
so well.
And I thank you,
old dead poet,
for helping me
understand me
better.

Sound Russian to me. Depressive. Dark, with a deep, wise, dismissive sense of mankind. Not a happy camper. But then, self awareness can be pretty depressing for some folks, and a depressive intellectual can fool themselves into thinking they know some deep truth about mankind. Their rants resonate with the depressed, and those infatuated with the illusion of wisdom, and the next thing you know they're offing themselves in some pedestrian way, leaving their public to wonder "what the fuck?"
