Wearing The Yoke of the Oppressor

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , ,

There are so many restrictions programmed into these homeless shelter computers. Just about every time I try to go somewhere online, I get a "You are not authorized to view this page" message from the browser they make me use.

They're afraid us homeless vets will use our computer time to look at porn sites, so they've hired some low budget government hack to block our computers on everything from MySpace to Disneyland. Yes, Disneyland. Homeless shelter computers are blocked from viewing Mickey and Minnie and Donald and Pluto and Goofy.

New operating system, new browser, new email interface . . . I'm sure I've lost and mis-sent some email. I miss my Mac.

I've managed to apply for 25 jobs in the last week, everything from shuttle van driver to Macintosh Desktop Administrator to Cabana Boy Executive Associate's Assistant Craphead and I've managed to hunt down those jobs here in the vets dorm computer room wearing my mandatory morning tie, even though I view the tie as the yoke of the oppressor, whomever that might be. At the moment it's this veterans shelter management.

I really hate this tie I'm wearing. Hate it. It and any other tie that threads itself around my neck like a single-knotted hangman's noose. Hate it, hate it, hate it. Please, someone out there hire my ass so I can rip this yoke of the oppressor off my neck!!!
