Chloie’s Epilog
I drove Chloie on and off another 5 1/2 months. Towards the end, her request calls dried up and Jennifer sent her on fewer and fewer calls, the regulars were tired of Chloie.
We’d be driving down a street waiting for a call and Chloie would see a man sitting at a bus stop. Chloie would tap me on the shoulder and say, “Let us see if zat man has zee money.” I would always refuse.
During the five months I was driving Chloie, Jennifer claimed three times not to have received the express mailed money order agency fees from Chloie and raised her deposit twice for being late.
Chloie swore she sent the money on time to the Fairfax drop box address, but what could she do? If she didn’t pay the agency fees again, Jennifer wouldn’t let her work. Chloie claimed Jennifer was stealing and not just from her.
After she came back from seeing her parents in France, Chloie hired a new driver out of the L.A. Xpress.
She told the Dragon Lady it was because ‘James knows too much,’ but the real reason was to save on her personal driver expenses. She hired a taxicab driver named Edgar, an illegal alien from the Phillipines who was the architect of the taxicab mafia.
Not only did Chloie change her drivers, she also changed her name and nationality. She became Helga from Sweden.
Chloie still lives in the same Park La Brea apartment despite her almost weekly pronouncements that she was soon going to ‘move upstairs’.
Between Lynn, me, Edgar and all of Chloie’s other drivers, I figure she’s been delivered to over 2,500 men, an astounding number as most of the girls started getting squirrely after 200 calls and quit or were fired at around 800 men.
